How Cairngorm Ski Club uses the information you give us through this website, what cookies we set, and how to get in touch about any of it.
Who we are
Cairngorm Ski Club is a Scottish charity (SC047401). We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, email secretary@cairngormskiclub.co.uk.

What we collect and why
Mailing list sign-ups
If you subscribe to our newsletter, the details you enter are sent to Mailchimp, which we use to send club news. We do this with your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Membership and bookings
Joining the club and booking sessions happen on WebCollect, our membership system. WebCollect’s own privacy notice applies there. We use that information to run your membership and our coaching programmes.
Emails you send us
If you email one of the addresses on this site, we use your message and contact details to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence.
Website analytics, only if you accept
With your permission we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, and how people find us — so that we can improve it. It collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your device and browser, and how you arrived at the site. We do not use it to identify you. Advertising features and Google Signals are switched off, so your data is not used for advertising.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. The first time you visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Nothing for analytics loads until you choose Accept analytics, and if you choose Reject analytics, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Logged-in site editors are never tracked by Google Analytics.
Other services this site uses
Some parts of the site are delivered by other companies, which receive your IP address when your browser loads them. They do not set cookies through our site:
- Google Fonts provides the site’s typefaces.
- Unsplash hosts some of our images.
- one.com, our web host, keeps standard server logs for security and troubleshooting.
Links to Facebook, Instagram, WebCollect and other organisations take you to their websites, where their own privacy policies apply.
Where your data goes
Google (Analytics and Fonts) and Mailchimp may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. These transfers are covered by the UK’s data bridge with the US or by standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Emails are kept for up to two years after the enquiry is resolved.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To do any of these, email secretary@cairngormskiclub.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
